about

Thomas Park and Conure team up to deliver this new collection of experimental works. Known for their rather different approaches to ambient and experimental noise, they have managed to create a richly woven tapestry of sound and emotion. These dense and atmospheric pieces journey through the abandoned industrial backdrops of our society. The audio, mastered by Darin Sullivan of Shadow Sound Design, is at the same time delicate and deeply moving, gently blurring the lines between the ambient and noise genres.

recorded/mixed: November, 2010 - January 2011

Thomas Park has been involved with music for his entire life. He was trained in classical and jazz music as a teenager, and played the trombone and piano. His listening habits changed in the late 1980's, and Thomas became interested in electronic music. After several years of writing techno as the band AutoCad, Thomas was fortunate enough to collaborate with Robin Storey of Rapoon. This project helped Thomas to evolve into the ambient / drone band Mystified. Mystified has found considerable success, both through online and physical releases, and is known for being proficient, creative and prolific.

The music of Mystified is mainly of an atmospheric nature. The music of Mystified especially explores texture, consistency, and a type of variety that could be called subtle. This is not the utopian ambient of the typical soundscape artist. It is serious music for serious people.

Mystified music has found many purposes, including scores for films, online and terrestrial radio shows, festivals of aesthetic, political, and other varieties, informational cd-roms, spots on many scores of compilations, and quite a few independent releases.

Conure is Mark Wilson, also of 15 Degrees Below Zero.  The San Francisco-based ambient noise project began in May of 2000, and since that time, Conure has released recordings on such varied labels as Edgetone Records, Sonora, Cohort Records, Solipsism, Thee Instagon Foundation, Crunch Pod, Troniks, Ghetto Blaster Recordings, Snip-Snip Records, Zaftig Research, and others.  He has been fortunate enough to play multiple shows on both US coasts as well as international shows in Victoria and Montreal, Canada and Berlin, Germany.  Conure creates most of his current audio work using guitar pedals, manipulated and processed field recordings, and other mic'ed sounds and objects (with the occasional keyboard and guitar thrown in the mix).
